Entry Requirement: Certificate in Kiswahili (minimum B1/B2) or equivalent. Placement test available.
📘 Module 1: Language Foundations & Structure
“Kiswahili ni utambulisho.” – Kiswahili is identity.
Focus: Strengthening grammar, writing, and linguistic structure for advanced usage.
Units:
- Advanced Grammar & Syntax
- Sentence construction, verb extensions, noun class harmony
- Applied Phonology and Morphology
- Sound patterns, word formation, tone and stress
- Professional Writing Skills
- Reports, proposals, formal emails, and structured essays
- Introduction to Kiswahili Literature
- Analysis of selected texts: poetry, drama, short stories
- Culture and Communication
- Kiswahili in social contexts: greetings, etiquette, idioms (methali, nahau)

“Lugha huishi kwa matumizi.” – Language lives through usage.
Focus: Equipping learners for real-world communication and professional practice.
Units:
- Public Speaking and Presentation
- Speechwriting, debates, persuasion, and interviews
- Translation and Interpretation
- Text translation (formal, journalistic, legal); live interpreting drills
- Kiswahili in Media & Technology
- Writing for broadcast, podcast scripting, blogging, and social media
- Creative Writing
- Short stories, opinion pieces, and spoken word
- Sociolinguistics
- Language change, youth language, urban Swahili (lugha ya mitaani)
🎯 Module 3: Research, Specialization & Professional Practice

Focus: Specialized application of Kiswahili through research and career-ready projects.

- Language Research Methods
- Designing, conducting, and reporting a research study
- Advanced Literary Analysis
- Thematic interpretation, symbolism, and critical review
- Kiswahili for Development and Policy
- Language policy, curriculum design, and national integration
- Capstone Project / Portfolio
